Are folks comfortable buying and flying with 3rd party propellers - amazon has various brands that are half the cost for DJI's extra propellers. I used 3rd party on my mavic pro all the time, but since this is so new wondering if anyone has used 3rd party safely

I don't have experience with 3rd party, but you asked if folks are comfortable.. so i'll give my 2 cents. Short answer, no, I'm not. It's not typically a huge savings that I've found and I'd rather use the OEM parts over aftermarket when it comes to the pieces that keep the aircraft in the air. I'd assume people use them with success, but it's not worth it to me to risk my investment.

Because this drone is not finished yet < I would not consider getting any third Party Props , you need to know what your drone is doing now and after the update coming in maybe a few weeks.

Once your drone is working at maximum performance than you can start to switch out Props and you will know if there are any negative changes, such as coming down hard and fast , which is where many props will start to show changes .

I do not use 3rd party props. Master Airscrew has a good reputation but I personally don't see the benefit. I am happy with the OEM ones.

No reason to use aftermarket props. But if you can't resist, the only ones I'd use are MA, as others have said. And that's not based on the M3 props, that's based on their reputation as a company that's been producing r/c props for years.
