I have been flying my Mavic 3 in the neighborhood and noticed that between 1 and 2 miles I start getting a yellow text warning saying the signal interference is present. I was alarmed, so I returned to base immediately. The drone was not in the line of sight (trees and other obstacles were between us). The drone was about 300 ft in altitude and flying at approximately 40 miles/hour (max speed). The specifications of the O3+ transmission say 15 km, and the drone has a theoretical 30 km distance capability. What is your experience in real life, and how far did you fly away from base? How to extend the range? (fly higher, for example?)

That sounds about right, close to what I was going last time this happened to me few weeks ago. Pretty disappointing and somewhat alarmed to see the control going haywire like that, I would expect a gradual degradation so you can get a good feel for things especially since back in March I did a sorta "demo" for family and I went well past that in the wide open range, so far that I actually had to turn around before I went *too* far; never saw a warning.

DJI give a lot more information that that in their specifications.
Read them some time and you might understand that obstructions and interference will eat your transmission range.
Fly somewhere away from interference and with a clear, unobstructed line of sight to your drone and it will fly a lot further.

Max Transmission Distance (unobstructed, with interference)
Strong Interference: Urban landscape, approx. 1.5-3 km
Medium Interference: Suburban landscape, approx. 3-9 km
Low Interference: Suburb/seaside, approx. 9-15 km
Data tested under FCC standard in unobstructed environments with typical interference. Used for reference purposes only and provides no guarantee for actual transmission distance.

Max Transmission Distance (obstructed, with interference)
Low Interference and Obstructed by Buildings: approx. 0-0.5 km
Low Interference and Obstructed by Trees: approx. 0.5-3 km
Data tested under FCC standard in environments with typical low interference. Used for reference purposes only and provides no guarantee for actual transmission distance.
