Greetings y'all,

This is my first drone with substantial collision avoidance capabilities, so forgive me if this is a noob question.

I am finding that when flying in N mode, the collision avoidance seems to false alarm a lot. Meaning, I have it up in the sky, nothing near it for 100ft in all directions, but it is still bonking at me. This seems to be more often from the rear sensor, but not exclusively. I thought it might have been detecting its own exhaust heat, and falsing due to that, as it seems to go away when I start moving forward. But it's not exclusively the rear sensor. Is this normal/expected behavior?

I've not used the Mavic 4 however on the Mavic 2 Pro the only time I've had problems with false alarms on the collision sensors is around sunset time or there's harsh light angles. At night time it warns the avoidance system isn't working which is correct but otherwise the system behaves as expected and only warns me of objects near the drone or stopping the drone when there is something near the drone.

I'll rescind this thread, as this prior one seems to cover exactly what I am seeing:

I chatted with DJI on this issue with my Mav4Pro. I have seen it with other drones too (I have 8 DJI drones) so it's not just the Mav4 Pro but it's definitely an issue. I was told to fly along, low to the ground to "calibrate" the Obstacle Avoidance" system and indeed, that seems to be helpful but since this is a "maybe now..maybe not" kind of thing I am not entirely sure if it is really helping but it does seem to. I was doing a timelapse at about 60 feet and getting a red line and beeping so I dropped down, flew 5 or 10 feet off the deck for a hundred feet or so and went back up. crickets. (silence)

I had this on my Air 3s until a couple of firmware updates ago Mainly flying into a bright sun, but issues seems to have been fixed and I no longer get the OA alerts mid flight. No birds etc in vicinity when the alert used to come on.
