I received an email from Freewell this morning informing me that my Mavic Pro 4 filters have shipped. I had pre ordered order the All Day 8 Pack and yesterday I ordered the polarizing and gradient filter yesterday so this was a bit of a surprise this morning when I received the email. I live in Canada.

Please everyone keep buying the M4P regular filters and hopefully this will eventually drive down the price of the e-Filter whenever it shows up. Not a first because the e-Filter will show up a MSRP but over time, it should fall at the retailers because there are less people willing to buy after they already made their purchase and satisfied with the results. This is what I am hoping when I go to make my M4P next year which is when the e-Filter may finally make an appearance but it could be so scarce and so spectacular that the price actually goes up! This is my current thinking knowing that circumstances can change but the ordinary consumer doesn't need both, correct?

I have had my MP4 since they were released here in Canada so I need filters now so I purchased theFreewell filters, they will be delivered this coming week. Given the uncertainty of a release date for the e-filter and given we have no idea about the price point of the filter deterred me from waiting. I would not buy the e-filter until it has been released and well tested by reviewers that have not received them from DJI to do reviews.

Rumor has it the e-ND filter may never make it to market due to color shifting issues, which is why it was not released as part of the Creator Combo. Apparently, creating an electronic ND filter is more challenging than DJI anticipated. Also, the e-ND filter starts at ND4, so it cannot be left on permanently if you fly at dusk or at night. Anticipated price was supposed to be about the same as a high quality ND filter set, under $200.

For what it's worth, I received my Freewell filters a few days ago in Italy. I haven't tested them much but so far so good. I was surprised I had to pay over 14% in customs fees though - they shipped directly from China. Maybe I should have known that? Regarding the e-nd, during a customer service chat for another DJI device recently, the operator assured me the e-nd would be coming out, but couldn't say when. My fingers are still crossed!

That's encouraging. It sure would make working with ND filters more practical, if you can change them while in flight, as the lighting changes. Conceptually, it's a game changer!

Are these supposed to change on their own as well or is it manual only?

Good question. There might even be an automatic mode. So few of them exist in the wild. Only the prerelease reviewers got them, and they aren’t talking much about them, if at all. Color shifting issues is the supposedly the main problem that prompted their removal from release with the Creator Combo.

There are many different types of ND filters so I don't believe that the e-ND filers are going to be a filter for all aspects of filming. I purchased the Freewell 8 pack, CPL, Mist and gradient filter, these filters should give me everything I need for my filming. If the e-ND filter receives good reviews I'll purchase it.

In the case of Freewell "Shipped" simply means they printed a label. My Standard Day, Every Day and 4 individual filters stayed that way for almost 2 weeks. Then Fedex actually got the package. I had a delivery date on East Coast of July 7th (this with "expedited shipping" As soon as the package hit LA, the delivery date has gone blank again. Worse I wite Freewell support, sales, comment on their YouTube videos and they have me on "do not reply" ive yet to get a single response to questions on the website, through support "ww will reply within 48 hours" this has been the story since June 2nd. Nothing. Nadal. After ordering over $250 worth of product. I even asked them to cancel several times, but that was ignored as well. I get that Chinese manufacturers are getting beat up pretty good by the US, and I understand delays. Ignoring the customer for almost a month and a dozen attempts to communicate is unacceptable.

Indeed, and the e-ND cannot be reduced to 0 ND which would be clear.
ND 4 is its lowest setting, so it will need to be removed for low light flying.
Still, a very useful alternative to landing to change ND filter values.
