I have a Mavic 4 Pro and a Mavic 4 Pro Creator. On both, I am able to set the altitude limit to 1000 meters. I crashed my Creator and got a replacement. The slider limit on this drone is 500 meters. Any idea why there is a difference and if I can somehow bypass it? I use it when flying in very remote areas. One difference is that I bought my first two (M4P and M4P Creator) from Adorama early last summer. This replacement was bought just now from Infinity Drones in Florida, so may be a Korean version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The difference comes from semi recent firmware updates to comply with some countries regulations I think Korea....Just to know you cannot legally fly above 500 ft without a waiver in the U.S. but you can use Drone hacks to bypass the DJI restriction I believe.... use with care!
check here to make sure..

I have 2 RC 2 Pro controllers. When I switch controllers, the 500 meter altitude limit follows the controller. So there must be some setting on the controller that is setting this limit. Both have GEO zones locked.

what firmware version do each have?

I can legally fly above 500 m from my takeoff point if I'm flying up the ridge of a mountain, for instance. Will this height limit be in effect in the Andes of Argentina and Bolivia? Does anyone know?

Thanks.

DJI Assistant 2 and a PC/Mac might do it. It depends if DJI have inhibited downgrading.

Where do I find the previous firmware versions? I don't see it on the DJI site.
If you're using DJI Assistant 2 then the program downloads them, it should show you a list of the firmware versions available.
If DJI Assistant 2 doesn't show you previous firmware versions available then you could try using the free dronehacks software to downgrade and download the older firmware file from dankdronedownloader.

I downgraded my firmware to the previous version 01.00.0300 from September, 2025. It still show the 500 m limit. I've tried restarting both drone and controller to no avail. Could the controller firmware also need to be downgraded?

Its possible the limit is imposed by the DJI fly app on the controller. You can see if DJI assistant will let you downgrade the controller.

Mavic firmware 01.00.0300
RC Pro 2 firmware 01.00.0400
Not sure about DJI Fly. Is this it? 1.18.0. I did not downgrade this. Don't know how.

It looks like the latest DJI FLy is 1.19.0, if this is DJI Fly.

I am at 0500 on the controller and 0300 on the M4P Creator with Fly app 1.19.4 and still at 1000m limit. I do have the handheld twitch while recording but tested only to confirm. It's not something Iwill be doing so I will not be upgrading firmware anytime soon. It seems the .0500 aircraft firmware toggles the 500m limit.
