Hi all,

The slider bar for Max Altitude in my M3P went up to 1000m. For my M4P from Korea (firmware updated to latest as of 2 weeks ago), it only goes to 500m. I still love the drone, but just curious if this is what most are seeing?

Thanks!

Are you locked into satellites when you try it? Here’s mine, you can see you can slide it all the way to 1000 meters.

500 is the norm. It's illegal in the US to get that high AGL but you can "climb" mountain sides if you can see your drone that far off. Regardless of that, there are areas outside of airports where DJI will allow the drone to fly up to 1000M. I thought that when they removed authorization zones everything changed to 1000M but perhaps not. I can recall times when I would see 1500Ft and other times I'd see 3000ft so I'm not sure what triggered it or if has changed. In any case, your experience is not unique.

I’m still a beginner at this but I thought FAA height limitations overrode the user inputs. Meaning with the slider bar like this I am limited regardless of where I’m flying.

You are legally limited of course, but no the aircraft won't prevent you from going above where you're allowed if you set the slider higher. That's what you need to set if you want it to help you stay where you should.

Don't confuse DJI's Maximum Altitude above the launch point with AGL. FAA couldn’t care less about what height you set your Maximum Altitude slider to. FAA insists no more than 400 feet above the ground directly below the aircraft, which can easily allow for mountain climbing from the base along the slope, as high as you want within 400 feet of the slope (assuming you can still see your drone because of your eagle eyes!).

In Colorado I reached the 1,000-meter height limit, and I still couldn't get to the top of the mountain.

We are in agreeance on this. That's why I'm surprised I'm limited to 500 meters.

To allow for mountain climbing and changes in terrain. The world isn’t flat. The drone limits you to 500m above take off, but you are still responsible for staying within feet AGL.

Mine is maxed at 1000m. Why are some different?
The Mavic 4 Pro's should be 1000m in the U.S., but I think there is some bug in the current FW that is inconsistently still limiting it to 500m, as is mine, because of GEO Mexico bleeding into the U.S. when still within 50km of an airport in MX.
I have a obtained a Custom DJI unlock for it, but it still is inconsistent and displays 500m most of the time even after a full satellite lock. Currently not worth my time to troubleshoot it further with DJI, as I can't truly legally test it without driving to a location where the mountain peak is over 500m, as otherwise I would be way over 400 feet AGL.
