Mavic 4 Pro range observations

Hi folks. Having some issues with signal quality lately. I went to the Peak District over the weekend, as well as to Lincoln, Nottinghamshire. Started getting signal warnings after about 300 metres.

After a DJI Assistant II refresh (drone+RC Pro 2) things look a bit better but still nowhere near the advertised range. Got to about 500m before signal started degrading.

Signal range is a complex issue and you can't expect to achieve the Max Transmission Distance any time you fly.
Actual range is going to vary considerably with local interference levels and the amount of trees or other obstacles between you and the drone.
Just read the full details in the specs to see that it's not as simple as a single number for distance.

Max Transmission Distance (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 30 km
CE: 15 km

Measured in an open, outdoor environment without interference or obstructions and represents the farthest communication range under each standard.

Strong Interference (urban landscape): Approx. 1.5-6 km
Medium Interference (suburban landscape): Approx. 6-15 km
Low Interference (suburb/seaside): Approx. 15-30 km

Something is not right regardless of terrain especially in two independent locations. Have it checked out, talk to DJI.

Have you tried in an open field with no trees buildings etc? I have no issues with range in CE.

There is something very odd going on there. If you have line of sight something is terribly wrong.

i changed the frequency range setting from auto to manual and it fixed my low range issues.

channel mode manual, freq. 5.8 ghz, bandwidth 40 mhz is what's working for me.

Interesting. Must be lots of 2.4 and 5.8 interference, and the auto select had trouble finding and using the 40 mhz band. Problem should be isolated to the area you were flying. Generally, Auto will yield the best signal stability and range..
