Something a bit different ... does anyone have a favourite store for accessories etc?

I've been canvassing Drone Accessories Online (www.droneaccessoriesonline.com.au) for bits'n'pieces for my Mavic Pro Platinum. They have a limited range, but not too small. I'm probably going to buy a skin, and I'd like to buy a sun hood for the phone too, though their blurb doesn't mention current model phones (I have an iPhone XS). Is someone able to advise the size of the hood that would suit a current model iPhone?

I've also briefly heard about the benefits of strobes etc. Is there anything else I should consider?

I think they're based in WA, so a bit late for Fathers Day though. Aware dealers may have limited stock for previous gen drones too.

Any info welcomed!

I dont have a certain store but when I got my Mavic zoom I'd just Google Mavic zoom accessories then I'd compare prices but it usually Amazon or Ebay.

Before you buy, try making cardboard controller/screen shades from cereal boxes and find what works for you.
A sunshade/in-flight-protector for the gimbal might be an idea though, going by the one I have for an M2P, it might limit the useful visual yaw rotation of the camera. I can get a lovely view of the inside of the shade if I yaw the camera too much.

That's a good point. In a previous sunny day flight I drew a crowd but had to turn my back on them so I could stand in my own shade! The odd thing us drone pilots do is face the same direction as the drone ..... even though we can't see it. Force of habit I guess.

And what I’ve found to be the brightest.

In Oz I also like the D1store, the sun hoods are under the general tab and they have store all over Australia.
And they sell on ebay as well to save on postage

Hi, i have bought a few accessories for the mav air 2 from drone accessories Australia.
Same prices as elsewhere, and a retailer here in Perth that you can pick up your accessories or parts same day by appointment

Yes they are based in Hocking WA, i have ordered accesories on line and been able to pick up the same day by appointment.Only a couple of suburbs from me?

So the bottom line is the Mavic Pro (and Platinum) and now officially EOL. Pretty unhappy given that Harvey Norman happily sold my wife a Flymore bundle less than 12 months ago.

You can no longer purchase propellers or batteries. My batteries are fine, but I would like to have a spare set of blades around. Otherwise my wonderful drone is essentially worthless.

Spoke to Drone Accessories Online - in fact Frank called me on the back of a message I sent via his Contact form and we had a good chat.

He gave me the name of 3 more drone businesses to try. So here's 3 more local stores, but given Frank's time and advice - definitely try Drone Accessories Online first!

Other businesses are:

D1 (tried - no MPP parts)
Rise Above
Camzilla

If you can't find the genuine DJI MPP low noise propellers, I'd have a look at the Master Airscrew version, they claim these have better performance than the MPP OEM low noise props

My drone use has taken a turn for the worse.

Amazon is a source of parts, but as with any non-specialist store, buyer beware. There's not much information on listings. Props can be purchased, but only one colour at a time - I believe you receive CW and CCW props, but you need to make multiple purchases.

My own issue has escalated, with a complaint via the online form, then an appearance at my local Harvey Norman. I was greeted by a very miffed manager to discuss the way forward. He suggests if he can find props/batteries, there's no issue. The complaint went straight to 'Executive Management' - so there's faith in the complaint system.

Unfortunately for him I believe he would need to prove he could provide items for the life of my drone - that's another couple of weeks of standard warranty, another year (statutory warranty), and then a further 3 years because they conned my wife into buying HN warranty (as useless as it is, it might push my point).

When asked "What did I want to achieve", I responded "A current generation drone". That made him wriggle.

Being a small town, I don't want to get anyone offside, but it appears to be destined for a date with Fair Trading.

I still can't find a firm EOL date (DJI can't even provide this) - but I'll say this. If your drone goes EOL, go and buy as many props and batteries as you think you will need immediately. Once they are off the DJI Store, they're as rare as unicorn poop.
