Hello,

I am having an issue with one of my front arms. I noticed a clicking noise when I was folding/unfolding the arm. When I removed the cover I noticed that a piece of plastic that held the screw I took out was cracked and no longer holds the screw at the right height. I'm not sure it's something I can repair and just wanted some advice. Please see photo attached. The end of the tool I have is pointing out where the spot is.

Welcome from the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, USA. We have a Member's Map in the Upper Right of the Title Bar. Click on "Members" and then Click on "Member's Map…" Check it out and you might find some new flying friends.

I am sorry, I cannot help, but hope that others can help with your request.

Match the screw for that hole by the one on the opposite side of the aircraft.
The two screws that hold the detent mechanism in place are different from each other. Once you determine the needed screw, just put it in place and the clicking should go away.

So I have the screw. The issue is the small plastic piece that extends up into the detent mechanism has broken off. I assume I could get another screw of the same size just longer. Just need to find out what the screw size is and where I could find one.

The piece that is missing is to align and seat the detent mechanism. Probably just a longer screw would suffice. I can’t remember if that screw is a machine screw or coarse thread similar to a wood screw. I’ll check what I have.

Have you check your local True Value/Ace/ or other local Hardware store. Many of these stores have small parts bins. Some more than others... Home Depot/Lowes are not that big on carrying small parts like your screw.

Mom and Pops hardware are your best option... Look for parts bins like this image...

If you have a store near you like a CED or a store for electrical stuff most will have the tiny type of screws you need if not Amazon them.

Some of these stores have minimum purchase restrictions… They might have the screw, and it might only cost 5-cents, but you might need to buy 100 of them, or be prepared that you might also need to buy a pair of work gloves, etc… Several years ago I was rebuilding a Super Tiger 0.21 Racing engine for an RC car and the head screws were Philip Head Screws… I wanted Alan Head Screws and they had what I needed in the exact length and at 3-cents apiece, they were a steal… but there was a $5.00 minimum sale, so I bought twice as many as I needed and that got me up to about a quarter… 🤣 So I also bought a can of spray cleaner… Still got some of the cleaner yet…

I’m ok with spending a little extra money to get it done right. I ordered a pack of MANY screws from Amazon to try at first. They come tomorrow morning and if that doesn’t work I’m gonna hit a store on Wednesday when I’m off. Thanks for the info.
