I'm really loving the Mavic Air so far. The JPEGs look pretty rough to me but I've been learning how to post process the raw files and needless to say have been getting some better results. Here are my best pics so far. Compared to the other posts I've seen these don't do the camera any justice - but I'm having a great time working on them. Any advice is much appreciated.

They look great to me. What settings are you using? I do see its HDR. I just bought an Air and haven't flown it yet. Did the updates. But it doesn't like being connected to my Samsung s7 phone jack. It repeatedly connects and disconnects. It's really irritating.
Seems to be ok with the Nexus 7 2013.

Look great. What post work did you end up doing?

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it! I just used the landscape style to shoot because I don't really know what the best custom settings would be. I don't remember what the shutter speed was - I just adjusted it until the EV was at 0. In post I always bump up the contrast, dehaze and sharpness first then make small adjustments to the highlights, shadows, etc. I usually add a little bit of saturation and vibrancy as well but try not to adjust it too much. I hope that helps, I'm still getting used to all the settings and how to use them.

They look really good to me. Are you shooting in RAW format? You'll get much better detail in your images this way. I haven't received my Mavic Air so I really haven't had anything to compare photos with. As a photographer I purchased my Air to get shots from where I couldn't before. I always use manual setting with my DSLRs so I'm not sure how much tweeking you can do with the Air camera. I just wish they had gone with the 1" 1/2.3” sensor.

Thanks, I definitely appreciate it! I am shooting in RAW and HDR. That really seems to make a world of difference. I’m a complete novice so I couldn’t say how well the camera stacks up to others but as someone who does this just for fun it works well for me. Im still learning the manual settings myself so I can’t comment too much on that either. Either way I’m sure you will love it. Not only will you get amazing photos/footage but it’s just a flat out joy to fly. I hope to see some of your work posted here soon!

Great pics, beautiful location. I've been using Affinity Designer for processing RAW pics. Honestly though like you I don't think they need much correction, if any most of the time. I am getting ready to do a lot of aerial photography and movies in Austria & Vietnam this summer. Been concentrating on best balance with for movie settings, gimbal etc. Youtube link attached to share with anyone he can benefit, I wanted to test the Air in some challenging depths of range using auto mode. Buying the Air has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time, what better could you do in retirement ay?

That’s awesome, I’m sure you’ll get some great footage in Austria/Vietnam. Hope to see them on the board! And I completely agree, buying the Air was a very good choice for me too. I’m having so much fun with it, I feel like a kid again. Didn’t think I’d be THIS hooked on it but it’s my new favorite hobby. Thanks for posting your video btw, I haven’t tried flying in tight quarters like that yet so that was cool to see. Have a good trip!

Cannot agree any more with your remarks, my wife & I had the best weekend away hiking with the Mavic Air sitting in our backpack. So much to learn together with all the fun operating these magnificent machines. Think my home tuning helped out big time. Even without flying, just moving the drone by hand can help to simulate flight and filming results at various settings.

Here's a link to the latest footage on weekend around the Austrian countryside

Realising that the best from the Gimbal for me has been staying in manual mode ISO 100, 1080HD 60 fps. Setting Yaw at 40, brake 130 and EXP configured 0.25 0.2 0.2

Makes the stick control super smooth in flight and easier to edit later.

Look forward to sharing some adventures :+)

The picture with the sun in view, were you using a filter? If so, which one?

I really like HDR-3. And in HDR2-3, that is quite a bend in the river, where is it?

Thanks, I really appreciate the comments! I took that photo at North Park. It’s actually a lake, just a little bit north of Pittsburgh, PA.

Here are a few more I took while on vacation. The fireworks were from a neighbors party back in July. Unfortunately it rained on the 4th otherwise I could have gotten some nicer pics of my township's firework display.
