Hi all,
as many others being a new owner of a mavic pro i flew it in the house, and managed to crash it from 25cm height !

As far as i can see the gimball plate got broken, no other visible damages...

Anyone knows if in UK there is any repair center other than sending the drone back to DJI?

thanks

Frankie

The only repair centre is in Holland.

You will have to raise a case with them on eu support.

The service will be quick but you probably will have to pay.

I dont think they are any parts available yet except from broken drones

Quick? I had a mavic Pro considered DOA and sent it February 10th, and still no news about my mavic replacement. Firstly was supposed to be a same day swapping, then 5 days and today told me they don't know when they will send it back to me. Customer service is a totally fiasco. Would not expect it from a brand so known worldwide

Depends where you are the EU operation is very quick.

Well all I can say they had mine over Xmas and the turn around with holidays was less than 2 weeks in total (received 23rd december, I had it back 1st week January)

I think you will just have to keep trying, as 'my' feeling is that parts supply to the trade is still uncertain. Remember that initially they didn't release the complete units to the trade, who had paid in advance.

If you look on the DJI site for their service agents, the only one listed for the UK is Drone Doctor in Brighton. A week ago, maybe 2 weeks, they told me they wouldn't do Warranty work - I got the impression they couldn't make a profit from it. They also couldn't do repair work because they didn't have a supply of parts.

Heliguy on the East Coast is someone I spoke to before Drone Doctor. At the time they were extremely miffed about DJI having had a large amount of money from them, for some time, and then DJI cutting them out by offering to supply directly to end users.
Again, they say they do repair work, but do they have the parts?

For both, you have to ask what their hourly rate is, or how they cost repair time. I suspect the prices of parts, when available, will be the same from all traders tied into DJI, as these two are.

In both cases, ask them directly about availability, and don't forget the answer may change in a week or a fortnight.
If both say NO straight away then I think your best choice is the tough one, and ask DJI for a paid for repair.

Are you aware the gimbal plate is available as a 3D printed part?

That does mean a DIY repair, and probably a voided warranty. At this stage in the life of your machine are you really ready for that?

Hope this helps.

thanks mate, i really fear that from what i read on the web dji themselves will try to charge me a stupid amount of money for a small piece of metal... i haven't started yet enjoying my drine experience, hope they won;t get me tired of it before even starting!

FYI - we were able to duplicate this item via 3D printing at our facility and can send you the specs for free! We tested it multiple times and will be positing a video asap with the installation and how well it went. The final revision is slightly different in that it is smoother on all sides! It works well!

Anytime! We are working to make many more parts that we can just sent to everyone. My company opened with the idea to do free 3D printing since not everyone has the time or resources to get it done! Let me know if I can be of any help in the future.

I'd be interested in having a copy of the specs please, if only to hold against a 'rainy day', and because we are in the UK while you are in the USA. I don't currently have 3D printing facility, but getting involved with this drone flying pastime has shown why it might be a good idea to cultivate stronger links with those around me who do have the facility.

I'm not sure of the best way to transfer the information; do you have a preferred method in mind?

Regards.

This is not a problem at all. Allow me a few hours to finish some last minute videos from todays 3D shoot and I will post a link to our dropbox download for you. Again, if there is anything you may need printed in 3D please let me know. We will design it for free and get it done! Sounds a bit strange I suppose but this is my way of getting our name out there so for now free is my advertising!

For those who are interested, we also have gimbal plates available soon :) They will be made out of black aluminum! @thunder_drones can help do your Mavic repairs as well!View attachment 7450

Haha That would look cool! Would go well with carbon fiber stickers :)
We will also release our model on thingiverse for those who want to print - though it won't specifically designed for printing so yours will be better :) :)

Man, I have been flying drones for a long time but just yesterday signed up for a forum (this is my first one ever) and I am very excited to have done this. I hope we can always bounce some ideas off one another. Our company is currently using the MarkForged II printers for carbon fiber but we are preparing for the new metal printers from them that will print Aluminum. If there is anything we can do for you or perhaps you may be able to do for us, let's remain in touch! See you my friend.
