Mavic mini channel selection

So after a few flights I though I’d try and mess with the transmission settings as i always let it run on auto.
I live in a large city but right on the edge so flew down my road and over the fields and beyond. i ran out of signal at 1384 metres at a height of 120 metres.
I thought I must have changed the channel as it seemed a far way but after landing I checked and I was still set to auto on 5.8ghz.
This seems a good flight on 5.8ghz but also reading online I’m confused as when I select a channel on manual mode do I want to pick a high peak or a low peak as I have read online and there are conflicting messages.

1384 metres od 5.8 GHz, wow, maximum on 5.8 GHz is 500 meters for CE version.

As I have a CE model should 2.4ghz get me a higher distance than the 1384 metres in 5.8ghz. Im not really after long distance just want to know what the parameters are really so I keep it all safe.

From specifications max distance for CE version:

2.4 GHz: 2000 m
5.8 GHz: 500 m

Here is video where for CE 2.4 GHz distance was 3857 m without extender.
