Hi.

I was hoping somebody could confirm something for me. Does the gimbal get blown in the wind? (See video).

I am assuming it can happen but this is the second time it has happened to me, both times in wind. What confuses me is seeing a number of youtube videos of people flying is strong wind without this happening.

Sorry for bad quality but I just pulled the cache and cut it quickly

Hi,
I never had this situation in wind, and never saw similar issue in all videos i have seen with Mavic Mini in strong wind!

Did you had a message alert in the app? did you calibrate the gimbal?

This doesn't need to be a gimbal problem. Another reason could be that the MM does not keep its direction and the gimbal tries to compensate until it runs into its mechanical limit.
Have you calibrated your compass since you got your MM? If not, you should do in any case.

Quite likely the whole drone is jumping about too much for the gimbal to compensate for. I had this happen once in strong blustery wind, where the drone was really struggling to maintain its location. At one point flying full speed into the wind I was still going backwards.

I haven't calibrated the gimbal yet I will try that when I get home from work. I am pretty sure I am on the latest firmware.

I did have an alert for strong winds and also maximum power load reached or something to that effect.

So yours did the exact same type of shake? If that is the case then i guess its just a wind limitation of the mini. Looking at the video it does seem to be fighting the wind a bit.

Yeah, what I saw was quite similar to the posted video. I was flying less than 10m away from me and I could see and hear the drone was twitching about a lot fighting the wind. It's hardly surprising the gimbal struggled, as the drone was clearly at its limits (and beyond!) for position holding.

If anybody is interested, I contacted DJI and also sent in the airdata. Airdata showed a lot of ESC errors. DJI has said to send it in for replacement, so I guess it is a bigger problem than just wind.
