I mentioned in this thread that I had had an issue with the loss of compass and since that post, this has happened on a few subsequent occasions but I have now found a method of fixing the display that has worked every time in my last four flights. I simply quickly tilt and then re-level my RC (rather like a quick shake) and this immediately re-instates the compass display on my iPhone 5SE. This is quite repeatable although why it works, I am not sure unless it is just that the compass 'goes to sleep' and this quick #shake' wakes it up!

Any thoughts?

On Android MDs to properly calibrate the compass WHILE the RC is attached to the device you need to do the circle of 8 figure 3 times as if you were calibrating the compass for Google Maps. It work 100% of the times.

Yes, I do this figure of eight procedeure at the start of each flight to calibrate the compass while the R/C is connected to the iPhone - it is when the compass fails part way through a flight that I use the 'shake' procedure.

By “shake procedure “ you mean a brief full throttle movement?

No, not at all! I mean giving the whole Remote Controller (R/C) a quick 'tilt and level' in my hands.

Every once in a while I find the compass/direction indicator on my Mini iPad 4 stops working mid-flight and turns red. This usually happens when I am watching the drone and not paying any attention to the display AND I have allowed the iPad to end up resting against my stomach. I find just moving it away from my body allows the normal function to resume.

I have probably repeated this a dozen times and it always works. I have no idea why.

Try taking off your belt buckle...

Nope! No belt buckle. No belt. No metal of any kind.

Actually, my assumption was it really wasn't effecting the compass but but bocking gps signal. But not sure if that would really cause it to stop functioning and go red.
