Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and loving my new mavic mini but I can't seem to travel past 300m distance without losing RC signal.

I live in Ireland and have the CE version which I presumed runs on 2.4ghz, it is actually on 5.8ghz in automatic mode. I read the distance for 5.8ghz is 500m and the 2.4ghz is 2000m

Can anyone please tell me how to change this?

Thanks[emoji4]

This happens to me sometimes, It depends on how much inference there is in the area. Sometimes when I go to the front of the house it’ll automatically choose 5.8 but if I go round to the back or into the field next door it’ll choose 2.4. Hope this helps[emoji1303] I’m located in the North by the way so it shouldn’t be a problem for you. Just keep moving about until you get 2.4ghz.

Great video. I'm new to drones and jumped in with the MM. I'm in the process of trying everything to extend my range so will start looking at my channels as always had then on auto. Even tried the fcc hack but personally didn't notice any improvement. I live in a busy area so a lot of interference. Best I got was 1200m so I assume I was on 2.4 for that flight.

I don't want to try FCC hack . I think that the drone will fly 4 km away and come back and the battery will run out. Therefore I will not be able to enjoy the flight. I think that 1.5-2 km is enough for a beautiful flight.
(Sorry for my English)
Hi. The issue in England is we are quite limited to range so getting 2km is a hard task. So the hack for us helps us get a little better signal. Best I have got is 1200meters in a populated area. Not tried in open yet

In the populated area the drone work in 5.8 GHz. It is a safe frequency. If you change to 2.4 GHz you will have more reach, but in the city it won't be safe. (After much reading, I came to this conclusion)
I reached 2 km outside the city. Inside the city, more than 500 meters I can not at 5.8 GHz and at 2.4 GHz I'm not at risk

Hey thanks for the replies everyone, I must turn in my tappa notifications...
I got the problem solved and I overly surprised.

In a soccer field behind the local school I took her out just a short while ago and got just over 3km on 2.5ghz ch13 manual.

I've made some coke can windsurfer antenna booster thingy, I'll give them a try and see what happens on my next flight.

This 3 km is with FCC hack? Because in CE version the maximum is 2 km.

Wow, that's amazing. My record is 2.2 km. So, the limit of 2 km is not true.
very interesting... Your landscape looks a lot better than mine.
I just set my distance to no limit probably not like everyone else hasnt tried that...

Here's a video link [emoji106]

Good job ?
That's better than I expect. With higher the altitude, you'll receive the greater flight distance, I guess

Looks like nice open space. I really want to get mine out somewhere open as currently using in built up area. I think the ce version is obviously capable of more than they quote. Just depends on the signal. If you have it, it will carry on. As proved by people making the tripod antenna booster things. They are getting over ten miles. But with modded batteries.

Hi everyone
I currently have a spark but am considering buying a Mavic Mini. I live in the UK I have 2 questions if anyone can help
1. Living in the UK am i best to buy the CE version or the FCC version?
2. If I have the CE version I then go to and FCC country will I still only get CE range or will I then get FCC range? Or is it better to get FCC version in 1st place and use in CE country

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
Jack

It will be help you. In the forum have so many themes about FCC vs CE.

It's seems if a CE MM uses FCC hack it will usually top out on the 5.8ghz band around the same distance as on the 2.4ghz band as the the remote doesn't have the same hardware as FCC version does.

Good point. People are overlooking the remote controller side of it.
