I’ve owned a few of the mini mavic drones in the past more recently the mini mavic 4 pro and the mini mavic 2, which have now all been sold, I currently have a neo which I use mainly when mountain biking, I’ve been offered a mavic pro one at a good price and fancy it for the occasional fly, couple of questions… how good is it in 2024? Can I just use the fly app on my iPhone 11 with it? In the UK I have my operators and flyers ID…do I need to get another license ? Thanks

I fly my MPv1 all the time. It serves me well, and for occasional flying it is great. You cannot use the FlyApp with it. You must go to DJI support download site for the Go4 App. I would love to upgrade to the Mini 4 Pro since it is much better than the MPv1.

No its the GO4 app, you can switch it to wifi mode ( the cover on the side has a slide switch) but trust me when i say its an awful experience

No you can use one ID for all quads that you own

Operator ID > the owner of the quad must have this
Flyer ID > anyone that flies a quad that doesnt belong to them such as your kids flying yours etc

Howz, although I admit that the Mini 4 Pro is my most often used little UAV, I still would not give up my original Mavic Pro 1 (or my Mavic 2). I much prefer DJI Go4 rather than the dumbed down Go Fly app. I also enjoy the ability to program fully autonomous flights using Litchi and waypoints set on Google Earth Pro, the ability to preview the programmed flight beforehand, etc.

In a just world, the bolded words in the above quote would be carved in stone for the enlightenment of discerning drone operators worldwide, especially those lucky souls like me who reside time zones distant from FAA/CAA airspace and are at liberty to fly fully autonomous missions that stretch out for country miles.

Notes:
There is no”mavic pro one”or a “MPv1”. The original Mavic Pro had no sequential brothers. There are variations that came after its release such as the Mavic Pro Platinum and the Alpine White edition.

a mavic pro one at a good price
What’s a good price?
how good is it in 2024?
Still a reliable flying camera.(a bit slow on speed)

dido but recently got an fpv with goggles 2 and i think i would like to use them with the mini 4 pro I have seen some great footage from them but missions with lost signals oh forbid that can,t really happen !!

I still fly my MP...7 years old and still going strong. Its still on FW version 01.04.0000 which has limited restrictions, and works great with Litchi.

And that is why I called it a Mavic Pro v1, since it was the first Pro :)

Thanks for all the info, in the end I’ve picked up a Mavic Air 2..hopefully should be with me in the next few days, it’s hardly used with only 18 min fly time, I have my operator and flyer ID and I know there are certain restrictions regarding flying this drone in the UK, Can anyone confirm what the restrictions are as getting mixed information when I google ? Do I need to do the A2 C of C ? Thanks

Most credible source? The horses mouth (CAA). Different flight rules for different weight categories of drone. Air 2 falls under sub category A3 (Far away from buildings. Far away from people) unless you have the A2CofC... in which case you can fly it in accordance with sub category A2 rules.
