First off, this forum is great. Before you post it allows you to search to make sure you're not posting a issue or subject matter that is identical to another already going. However the continuous postings of the same thing over and over is really cluttering the timelines here.

One in particular is the Recent App update for DJI GO 4 and the speculation of what will happen if and when you decide to update. So I'm hoping this will clear that up for you. I am by no means a pro, or a mod, or a long time Mavic expert. I'm just a guy like you, that wants to exchange ideas and help where I can, and get help when I need it.

So 5/27/2017 - the dreaded update for DJI GO4 came out to support the Spark. Also with it was new terms and conditions. After much speculation, and doom and gloom... it was mostly uneventful.

If you're new and worried about all the things you're seeing on the internet just know this-

1. Firmware you're on doesn't matter. The app doesn't require you to update. Although DJI unlike Apple will expire firmwares after a while, I've never been forced to update to keep using my Drone. This is true of all DJI drones.

2. The DJI Goggles work as far back as .200. Mavic was designed for goggles. Therefore they work regardless. Regardless of the app generation. The goggles have their own FW and work with the first edition of FW for the Mavic. Just like the presentation we all saw that made us get the Mavic to begin with.

3. The App Update that occurred as I stated above was optional for the most part. But if you did update like I did, it was like any other update. It didn't brick or break or disable or reduce my Mavic or its abilities in any way. After all it is just the app. The magic is all in the firmware.

4. Updating the app didn't add functionality, but it didn't reduce it either.

5. If you tried to update you're firmware, and something went wrong, its more than likely because you didn't read something clearly it skipped a step or were impatient.

6. While many use both Apple and Android devices; just know I believe despite the platform the Drone and the Goggles run on (Android) they were designed to be most effective and reliable with Apple. Why? Because Apple is a Brand of Device, Android is a Platform. Android is an open source platform that can be found an many, many brands of hardware from Samsung to Acer and everything in between. Imagine building a drone for Android... but then trying to make it work on all the hardware that's out there. DJI circles Apple because of the many hardware variants the iOS is the same. That's attractive for any manufacturer like DJI. It's not an Apple or android thing. I believe that to be the truth.

I hope this helps someone that's worried or freaking out.

Thank you for the insight. When I purchased my Mavic Pro about a month ago, it was for pleasure. I have since become a computer nerd to keep up with all that it takes to keep the MP in the wild blue yonder safely.

If it wasn't for people like you and many others I would have been so upset by know that I may have given up.

Thank you to all that help us newbies.

I am a newbie too. But only to the Mavic. People set a wildfire of fear on here because they make a mistake they can't comprehend is their fault.

For example one guy in here was insisting the Nanosync antenna mod was pointless. Made no difference. In the end he made a mistake, fixed it and sang the praises.

Same is true if so many things here.

If we remember the points I made I think it should help rationalize the thoughts before another post that says "DJI did xxx" or "my update broke xxx".
