When I was about 10 (60 years ago) I went to Thurso with my parents to visit my uncle. Dad was a miner (Whitwell pit, Derbyshire) so we took the "Miners fortnight" off from 21 June onwards. The weather up there was brilliant except on our day of arrival, the middle Saturday and the last day, when there was some rain, the rest of the days were sunny - nice time on the beach etc.

Back home, we noticed that as there was some evidence of flooding near Sheffield railway station.

When Dad went back to work, most of his workmates, who had spent a week or two at Skeggy (Skegness Miners camp) had had horrid weather - rain, cold etc. They didn't believe the lovely weather we'd had up there.

So all I will say is that in the N of Scotland, you'll get wonderful countryside super places to fly etc.
