micro SD prices (!) - is it the summer season?

In late January 2017 I bought a San Disk Ultra 128 GB microSD UHS-1. CAD$55.49 from Amazon.

Today, the exact same item is CAD$99.98 + shipping (3rd party) or more if from SanDisk ...

Could it be everyone gearing up for summer vacation have run the prices up. (All sorts of video cameras out there - drones are the least of it...)

Prices on memory cards are just so volatile they make no sense to me.

I believe its all about supply and demand of the silica they use in China and the production speeds of the factories.

Thanks for the link Mr. Salty. Thats a pretty good deal on that chip. Didn't know they went up to 256GB on those. Amazing they could get that much memory on such a tiny card.
