Mini 1 batteries in Mini 2.

I have both a Mini 1 and Mini 2. If I occasionally use Mini 1 batteries in the Mini 2, do I have to register the Mini 2 with the FAA since it is over 250 grams?

Yup! But for $5 every three years that covers all your drones flown for recreation, why not register? You'd have to have a registration to get authorization to fly in controlled airspace anyway, and you still have to follow the rules even in G space regardless if you must register or not.

Any aircraft weighing over 250 grams must have a registration number attached to it.
