Hi,
I’m having an issue with my Mini 3 Pro. It seems to be drifting quite a bit and when stationary in the air it seems to yaw to the right with no stick inputs. I’ve attached a link to one of my latest flights. I have the most recent updates and have done all the calibrations including the controller. Please hav a look at the log and see if there is anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks in advance

Did you submit the correct .txt? There was no lateral movement during the few intervals where the sticks were neutral. Yaw varied only 1° when the rudder was held neutral (most of the flight).

I’ll link another flight from the same day. I’m not 100% sure there is a problem but I’m looking for expert advice before I approach DJI.

(In the first log) Yeah... it drifts slightly side ways during flight (more on the return it looks) & it crabs slightly also, couldn't see any yaw anomalies though.

Thoroughly redo both the compass & IMU calibration, then change all props to a new set... then try again by only flying a straight path out on height, and back, don't mix in any height change, yawing or roll here... don't touch anything besides the elevator (right stick, first fully forward out, then fully backwards back home again). If all is good the drone should arrive back to the approx. same spot from where it started to fly out.

Thanks for the analysis and potential fixes. I’ll try these and let you know what happens.

How have you determined this?
If your camera/gimbal is not centred prefectly, your video feed or recorded video will make it look like the drone is drifting off line as you fly forwards.

I centred the gimbal several times with the same results. When I’m looking up at the drone it actually looks like it’s dog tracking. I’m going to change the props tonight and re-calibrate everything and try it tomorrow. Stay tuned

Update, while changing the propellers last night I noticed that one of the screws were cross threaded. The screw was very difficult to remove. I’ve never changed props on this drone so I suspect it was done on the original assembly. I’m sending it back to DJI for warranty repair. I mentioned the drifting issue as well, so we’ll see how they handle these issues.

Thanks for all the guidance.

Wow, that is some good info!

"Thoroughly redo both the compass & IMU calibration, then change all props to a new set."
Wow!

How about a maintenance schedule, if used 3 batteries,
Rotate Your Props :rolleyes::)👌

I would check the propellers, and make sure they're all 100%.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did remove the props and discovered that one of the screws that hold them on was cross threaded. I ended up getting the aircraft replaced under warranty. It flies great now. And a nice bonus was since it was a brand new replacement I was able to buy care refresh for another two years as my old refresh was about to expire.

I don't know why DJI makes drones that need screws. I like the ones that just snap on. Probably to save weight.

I agree with that. I’ve owned several mini’s (SE, Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro) as well as the A2S, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 3 and the Mavic 3 Pro. The larger drones with clip on props are much easier to deal with.
But the extra hardware that is needed for clips will make the drone heavier! Everything about flying a mini drone is a compromise between weight and convenience, be it battery life or ease of fitting props.
