Mini 5 Pro officially launched outside the US.

I have witnessed the FAA take every single item out of an aircraft, weigh it, compare it to the W&B you are required to keep in the airplane. Ground the aircraft and fine the pilot $10,000. They were in a mood about a separate incident and totally hammered the guy. They can do that any time they feel like it. If you think they don't have scales, guess again. BTW, it is $10,000 per incident, which can be each flight overweight for example. Not having an un-damaged capacity sticker next to your fuel filler. They can and frequently do go and start looking for every single violation they can write. You see, you can barging down the fine. So they make it fairly stout to begin with. I do consulting from time to time on FAR violations. The Navy in its infinite wisdom sent me to Naval Postgraduate School in Aviation Accidents and Safety/Regulations. Makes a bit of coin every couple of years, enough for very expensive hobbies.

Weight and balance is a serious matter in manned airplanes. Lives are at stake. (A few years ago at the local airstrip, four hefty fellows loaded themselves into a Cherokee 140 with nearly full tanks on a summer day and tried to take off. The result was predictable.)

Have you heard of any instances of drones being examined by the FAA, even for issues other than gross weight?

Would the FAA enforce weight against individual drone flyers or just certify specific models, whether they are under the weight limit, and register it as complying with certain weight class as the EU does with their C0 mark?

As for drones being enforced, well I do that in South Africa. I am the drone police at the AfrikaBurn event and I did at Burning Man (we had FAA onsite, good old Larry from the Reno FISDO). If I had to call in Law Enforcement, because the offender was being difficult. I would go down a list of around 10 violations, that would total in excess of $50,000US. I have seen enforcement in Hawaii, a lot of enforcement in Hawaii. Yes W&B is problematic in light aircraft, we kill at least one every year here in Flagstaff, with our density altitude normally above 10,000'. Cherokees and Bonanzas leading the death toll.

My point is if you are seeing an FAA Enforcement Office, he is not there from random chance. He is responding to complaints. If he has been forced out of his office to deal with anything drone, he will be sucking on lemons. Which means he will be trending towards totaling up every violation he can possibly think of. Yes he was sick of listing to that old lady with the "Island of Dr. Moreau" deformed dog that has been calling his boss every week because your drone disturbs the creature.

That guy that got ramp checked for W&B had been upsetting some folks around the airport. Pretty much every Cherokee is overweight, as is every Cub. They do not like to leave their office. My most lucrative consult was when the FAA wrote up 241 phony violations on my client. They were on a revenge streak with the guy as he was their ex-boss when they were civil. That cost the FAA a ton of money, since they went into the guy's house with a SWAT team. FAA uses DEA for enforcement. They used to have their own, but that is another story. This was a titanic scale screw up on the FAA Part. Actually had a congressman and senator come to the meeting with me and my partner. That was what it took when they get worked up. So best not stick any body part in that beehive. Even if your right, it will cost you money and a lot of time.

Well I canceled my order, got cold feet when my vendor told that now for small vendors in Korea they have to send their shipments through a hub and after it is sorted it will get a tracking number. It did not fill me with confidence on the estimated arrival date and what would happen in customs. So I decided to bite the bullet and order one through a different vendor for more money, also in Korea that said they will cover all tariffs. We shall see, I also thought of ordering from two different Japanese vendors, but both were not that much cheaper and both were adamant about not doing anything to help with the tariffs.

All ready feeling better this one just got a Fedex tracking number, just glad ai sold some other unrelated stuff this week to waste too much on this drone

I'm thinking of taking the 500 mile round trip to Canada for one. (or two ;) )

Can you please share that Korean vendor because I have been able to find a single one without the tariff note attached. Thanks.

I am sorry are you asking for one without the tariff already in the price or without tyhe tariff in the price?
The second one you ordered which cost a bit more but the Korean vendor said they would cover the tariff.

Me too I don't mind paying more, I just want to avoid a nasty surprise.

this is the one I ordered from STYLE902com | eBay Stores
but I also so these guys but they were even more
and which seems like the same store

The first store I had ordered from seemed like a nice vendor they offered to cancel more than once when I was having trouble with the shipping issues. They were about $170 cheaper but with them not filling out the shipping label and it being done at some hub, I just worried that I could be exposing myself to a larger unknown tariff hit. If it was just the Korean tariff of 15% then the first vendor would be $20 more so in the end I am ok with the whole deal if everything arrives as promised.
We just do know since August 29th what the charge if there is one will be

Thanks. All 3 of those sellers have the blue tariff warning on all of their listings but you are saying they told you they'll pay the tariff, correct?

"Due to US policies, import fees for this item will need to be paid to customs or the shipping carrier on delivery. Learn more"

if you highlight that blue Ebay tariff warning part of that page says this, so I feel like I am on solid ground with Ebay if there is an issue, so I am ready to see how it goees
