If you go to battery stats on the phone, it will show if it's charging or not.

My brain is toast; because of the OTG cable thing; but I'm trying to work through it. I'm trying to figure out what kind of cable is used from the Mini controller to a tablet. I need the longer cable ~ but I'm not real confident as how to order a longer one. I did check DJI.com but no joy. I finally ordered one from Amazon ~ made by Hanatora 8.14" Type C cable. Its supposed to get here Monday ~ I hope it works!

I use these. Work perfect for iPad mini4 on MM. Right angles make mistake proof plug direction. Length is correct for running under the remote/pad to the far side, keeping the iPad on/off to the right. Great price too.

I bought an OTG adapter that plugs into a Micro port, turns on A mode for said port (this is done by grounding pin 4), and routing it to a full size A female port. The plus side is that I can then use any regular cable I have for the device I'm using rather than several custom cables. The down side is there is more points of failure.
