MM2 Fly More Combo ?

Likely due to rebar in the garage floor.
I suspect you are referring to the compass calibration and not the camera operation. That makes a lot of sense. I recall the manual states to make sure the drone is not near any metal objects or magnetic ones during calibration. Eventually I will get this figured out, I hope.

Looks like I picked a bad time to get a drone. The long range weather forecast calls for snow tomorrow, followed by a week of cold weather (highs of -10C) and then a week of snow.

That’s what happens to us northern people in the winter. We get bored and buy stuff. The high temp here today in Minnesota was -7F and that’s whats expected for the next week ahead. My new mini 2 is collecting dust too, oh well, better days ahead.

Winter finally kicked in around here a week or so ago, daytime highs have been around the -20C mark. Tonite is supposed to be the coldest of the year. Wireless outdoor thermometer doesn't go any lower than -40, so I'm not really sure where we're at but it's friggin cold outside. Won't be flying here anytime soon.

Eeeeks, I woke up to -20F or -28C this morning. And I thought that was chilly, another 20 degrees colder, no thanks!

-40C is way too cold for me. Only expereinced that a few times and would prefer not to again. Yesterday morning it was -28C and got up to -15C and I flew the Mini 2 in that temp for about 20 minutes or so. It was a beautiful sunny day and according to the weather network the dew point was about 10C lower than ambient, so I figured I wouldn't have to worry about icing the props. I'm impressed with how long the drone will fly on one battery, even in those temps. It takes great pics too but I can see I have a lot to learn about shooting videos, while controlling the drone. I got quite a bit of glare on the screen when turning the drone. Next time I will try setting the video to manual instead of auto and see it that helps. So far I am really pleased with my drone selection. This thing is amazing.

40 below is not in my comfort range either. Happy to hear you got out to do a little flying.

Despite the high temps being -15C for the last couple of days I managed to get some short videos and photos before the winds picked up or my fingers froze. Here are a couple of pics I took from just above the house.DJI_0023.jpegDJI_0028.JPG

I got about 15 mins of fly time outside before shutting it down to due strong winds. Then I moved into the shop and played around there for another 30 minutes or more. It handled very well and I had no issues flying it. The only thing that occurred was that it told me several times to recalibrate the compass. The other thing I noticed was that the camera was jerky when rolling it down or up. Kind of like it was sticking or binding. Is that some setting I need to adjust or is there something wrong with the drone.
Has this worked out with some movement? IF not how about uploading a video and do a slow tilt pan up and down from end stop to end stop to let us see. It should be moving slow and smooth and no "jerky". If however you mean jerky in video on stop there are settings for that. Also make sure you look all around that gimbal to make sure you got all the stickers off, they hide them pretty good ;)

At what temperature do human airways start to freeze because of the cold air being drawn in through them?

I'm not sure of that, but I can tell you from experience that at -52C if your bare skin touches metal, even for a fraction of a second, it is instant frostbite. But breathing was ok lol.

The jerky part seems to have worked itself out but I am still having some issues. Could be related to the cold temps though. I took a short video with the IPhone 6S and the video feedback on the phone was very jerky. I thought the drone was having issues and might crash, so I called it back ASAP and went back into the house. However when I watch the video on the Mac or the Fly App the video is very smooth. I think it might be the phone or the cold temps and the phone. The IPad seems to be OK with the cold temps.

The coldest I have experienced to date, has been -47C and like teeroy said don't touch anything with bare skin. I recall the foam seats in my truck felt like concrete.

Today I went for my daily walk when the temps were -20C and ended up turning around. My nose was freezing so I pulled my scarf over my face but then the moist air from my breathing was causing my glasses to fog up and freeze. By the time I got a few hundred feet down the driveway I couldn't see through my glasses, so I took them off and walked back to the house holding my glasses. I woke up to -30C and it warmed up to -15C. I heat my house and my shop with wood and for the last week I've been going through a fair bit of firewood but it is sure nice to come in from outside and run up to the wood stove and feel the intense heat coming from it. Instant gratification. :)

I love living in the country, especially in these crazy times.

I probably watched 100 YT videos before and after ordering the MM2, while I was awaiting it's arrival. Plus a few more since. I also downloaded and read the manual before the drone arrived and once more after. But I will still need to refer to it occasionally, since my memory isn't what it used to be plus there is a lot of information in there.
Awesome? slow and steady and member props up landing gear down? have fun flying
