The P S T modes invoked by the switch on the side of the controller are switched off as default. They are called multiple .

They could be off because you are in beginner mode.
I don't recall having to change this setting once I was off of beginner mode. I'm pretty sure multi was on. Intelligent flight mode on the other hand was off but I could still use it.

I just found out the IFM disable really disabled the SPT switch but not IFMs.
