Hi

As the topic says, what was the most battery charges you have achieved on a single battery before retiring it ?

Just retired three of mine... this is NOT normal, or should not be, but 3 of my original batteries (July 2018 mfg date) puffed (swelled) on me even with good care and no abuse just a few weeks ago. They all had only 39 to 52 charge cycles. Reminds me of the old Phantom 2 days when batteries puffed regularly... bummed and pissed :-(

I labeled my batteries #1,2,3 and I rotate them. Doesn't help with Puff but will balance the charges.

Was this on a Mavic 2? If so, search here as there was a bad batch of batteries at some point, and apparently DJI make good on them. Not sure of the dates, as I got mine in Nov of '19.

Was wondering what your flying habits are ? Do you let the batteries go below 30% when flying ? Do you charge to 100% ?
I know I’ve seen some you tube videos on proper battery care and all these issues relate to charging/discharging, storage etc.... seems like a lot to do to prolong the lives of batteries but they’re not exactly cheep !!

I have labeled my batteries as well to cycled, but i use Airdata as well to keep track of the health.
I full charge the batteries same day i go to fly. I never go below 20% on my batteries. I land the aircraft with 25-28% battery left usually. I rarely fly sport mode to dont push the motors or battery much avoiding overheat motors, battery and the aircraft in general.

Normal mode is the most efficient way. I use sport mode to come back if start raining or something like that happened.

Base in Airdata recommendations, once in a wile is healthy to discharge the battery up to 8% i tried once but hovering. Can someone confirm this?

The first original batteries had issues, had to replace my first three within first 6-8 months at my cost.

These replacements, So far are holding out great. No signs of swelling, still good.

Too bad DJI didn’t take this serious, they knew many of us had swelling issues.

Probably worth a shot. I'd search here to read the thread/s first. That way you'll know if yours are around the same time frame.

Hopefully someone with direct knowledge will weigh in here.

Mavic 2 batteries are causing drones to fall out of the sky with mid-air ejection of battery. My batteries are from 2018-7 and I believe they are in the batch of bad batteries sold by DJI.
I have between 30 and 35 cycles on my batteries.
More Mavic 2 series will be dropping out of the sky due to this issue. Best to secure the battery in place before sending it up.
See my posts in General Mavic 2 Discussion forum.

Obviously DJI soon knew they had a problem when they changed the default days to auto-discharge from the original 10 days they had for years and with several models down to the current 5 days.

Originally the days to discharge couldn't be changed on the M2.

DJI started being more reasonable too late for me. I already replaced my first original three batteries, and broke open the worst one. Any one of them still holds a full charge so they can be used for ground work, field warm up or very cautious low altitude test flights.

I think the days to discharge was shortened to two days on the M2 with the last firmware update. Changeable if needed.

They secure the battery but you may need to trim the straps to assure sensors on bottom are not partially covered.
