Has anyone experimented with or found a location to mount a true bright white 3 mile strobe for nighttime flights? With all the sensors this may be tougher than with past drones.

I've used Velcro to mount VIFLY and Firehouse strobes to the top of several different DJI drone models, along the centerline and toward the forward end of the drone body. There have been no issues with sensors, GPS, or other hardware or functions.

The one potential negative I've seen is reflected light from the strobe showing up in videos or photos if the drone is near objects, but that's unrelated to the mounting method.

So have I, but the configuration of sensors on the M4P is different; that is why I asked if anyone had experience with it; not other drones.

So you have experience with his mounts and the fact they do not mess up the sensors on the M4P? I have used his mounts on other drones but not the M4P.
Sorry I didn't see this exactly posted in the M4P forum and I don't have the M4P yet and Ryan has not yet created the mounts for M4P that I have seen but I'm sure he will soon. Sorry I don't know for sure.

Ryan has been known to work with flyers and their drones if you want to reach out to him.

He has made a custom mount for me before. I am not sure I want to be the test mule for this one.

I've also run into light reflecting off atmosphere-dust,haze etc even when no near object in frame. When light are mounted on front arms.Mavic 2 Pro.

The CBO that I follow is the AMA and this is what they say about flying at night:

For night flying, AMA requires that aircraft be equipped

with anti-collision lighting that can be seen from 3

statute miles away unless it poses a hazard or distraction

to the operator. Other lighting must be used in such a

way that allows you to determine attitude and direction

of flight. Hand-held illumination systems by themselves

are inadequate for night flying operations. Night flight

presents visual perception challenges. Since your vision

and depth perception can be altered in darkness, night

flying requires training through AMA.
