I was told by the Forest service yesterday, July 4th, that we can fly anywhere going up the road to Mt. Evans, the highest continuously paved road in America. Exceptions are these: At mile post 9, Summit Lake is an area where you CAN NOT fly. You can fly at the summit as long as you don't fly over the people in the visitors parking/viewing area or chase the Rocky Mountain sheep with your drone. Just be aware that going up and down, there are very few LEGAL spots to pull off the road. If you just park on the shoulder where there is no parking allowed, they WILL ticket you. A great place to fly. Dress warmly for the summit even in the summer...…. July 4th it was 46 degrees with a thirty mile an hour wind at the top, and it snowed a bit later on.
