My MPP is too loud + a few other questions

I'm not sure what happened but my MPP started sounding very loud. Or maybe I just didn't hear it before.
Should I be able to clearly hear it at maximum altitude of 120m/400feet straight above me? It's quite a loud buzzing sound. Not quiet or stealthy at all.
I can also clearly hear it (although if I try to listen to it) even when it's at maximum altitude and about 400m/1300feet away.
I inspected the props and aside from a few small scratches where it hit the grass a few times there are no visible problems.
My MPP is about 2 weeks old, never crashed.

A few other questions:

1) When shooting video, my Mavic breaks files down after 4gb. Is there a way to change this?

2) HDR pictures take about 5 or more seconds to finish taking. Is it supposed to take this long? I bought a very fast SDXC card so I don't get slowdowns, this is annoying as I lose video feed while HDR pictures are being taken. The card I bought is Samsung EVO 128gb (100mb/95mb read/write).

3) I'm a bit disappointed with the range. I start getting low signal warning about 500m/1600feet if I'm in the forest, usually lose the feed at around 1000m/3300feet if there's a forest or a mountain between me and the drone. And if there are no obstacles, the range is about 2000m/6500feet. I mean, this is not bad at all, but considering the range of Mavic Pro is up to 7000m/23000feet, I feel a bit disapppointed.
I read a bit about this and learned that if I chose high quality video feed on the phone/goggles then the bandwith will be taken up by that and the range will be lower. But I didn't see much improvement once I changed this. Any tips?

I just can’t imagine a normal person being able to hear at those distances unless you were flying into a headwind.
As far as the loss of signal, can’t help there because you already lost VLOS. Occusync is great but those antennae’s need to be facing parallel to the drone’s position for optimal signal strength. Just my opinion and I’m sure someone will chime in with their own way of doing things.

I am shocked that anyone would be shocked or surprised that having a mountain between the remote and the mavic will disrupt the signal strength. Trees and hills kill the range . Get the mavic up higher and the range will be better

4gb is a limit. Video will break for a few frames. Pretty much the same with all DJI drones.


Not sure why there is a noise issue. MPP is amazingly quiet. Hard to hear once over 200 feet up and or out 500 feet.

The file system causes the 4 gig partitions.
HDR photos do take longer.
Your card needs to be a U3.
Range is dependant on the environment. The figures you stated are for FCC, in ideal conditions, are you in the US?

I'm in Sweden.
I'm surprised too by the sound. It's rather quiet when I just fire up the props and leave it on the ground. But as soon as it takes off the sound goes waaaaaaaaaaaay up.
Might give it a try tomorrow with brand new props.

In Sweden you are in CE mode, therefore your range is considerably less.

I found that my Pro is much louder when it is fighting wind . When windy the down wind side tilts up and motor speed picks up to hold the gps location . Mine makes half the noise if it is calm outside

When my MPP is at about 150 feet I can't hear it at all, and when compared to an MP or an Air it is obviously quieter. Range depends on conditions. Trees and mountains are not going to enhance your range. Yes, it takes a few seconds to take 5 bracketed photos. What's your hurry? How fast does a regular DSLR take them? My Canon 6D doesn't seem much faster.

You should always have a spare set ... or two in your kitbag.

I did, it seems props caused the loud buzzing sound. New ones were a lot quieter. Weird because I couldn't see any damage on the old ones.
Also the range improved when I cut down the streaming quality. And also I found out how fast sport mode is... not doing that again unless there's A LOT of space around XD
I didn't crash but I my heart almost stopped when I tried it.

are u sure the hdr is taking more than.005 of a second, i shoot bracketed all the time and the dji go app shoots very fast, even the panoramas which i shoot often are blazingly fast,to fast even as i get props in the pics some times, i use litchi more for panos becuase i can slow it down, i can hear my mav up pretty high as its assending,once hovering its quiet, i dont think the mav supports uhs3 cards,and i don thtink it even supports 128g, i was sure 64g was as large as u could use, u can stick in a 128 but only 64g gets read, if u put your resolution to 1080 not 4k u will prob get more that 4g files. ive found in the mountains i lose signal too so i try to get high before i fly,,,,,haha, not that kinda high

I wouldnt have suggested a U3 card if the Mavic didnt support them.
The 4 gig file size is to do with the file allocation system, not the resolution.

Don’t need to see to believe! Doubting Thomas’ lose drones. I’m new to this but I queried it with specialist when did a tiny bit of damage landing in grass and was advised to just replace ... an invisible crack can’t be seen when stationary but opens up under rotation.

I think if something manages to stop the prop then it’s probably stuffed.

Very good reason to spend a few dollars on a landing pad!

Props are cheap compared to crashed drone from a catastrophic prop failure in the air.

Yeah I might pick up a landing pad. Used a towel on the beach but the drone blows it away when landing XD
But yesterday the camera started shaking uncontrollably while flying. I need to look it up today.

The 128gb card works just fine and it's U3, it's quite fast, almost instant 5 burst shots, but HDR is taking a lot longer.
It doesn't matter, I learned how to use Photoshop and from now on I'll just shoot burst and fix images with Photoshop.

Wow, in one day, you have learned how to use Photoshop... I'm still learning it and had it for years..
If you use Burst, you are just taking multiple shots quickly... good for fast action and 'getting that shot'... but useless for what you initially asked..
HDR is very similar to AEB... bracketed shots take time, burst doesn't..

ahhh i was confused with u3 and uhs. i use uhs cards in my camera and they are different in style with the brass pins, and i am sure they came out after the mav was designed,

I think its the same, UHS1 and UHS3, differant SD standards.
