Drone photography has transformed the traditional field of landscape and wildlife photography in radical ways, and has given many of us the ability to get the type of shots that only professional photographers could get with large media publishers budgets. Case in point- how wonderful a shot NGS can get flying over a flock of birds, or getting aerial closeups of feeding whales, and flying over a wild landscape that can only exist in a Narional Park. But do you know what? They have actually started to follow their own code of ethics regarding how their photographers approach wildlife photography and their other types of nature photography to help lessen their cumulative negative impacts.

Anyways, I did a lot of wildlife photography as part of my prior job as a wildlife biologist, and have always made it a point to follow the Nature Photographer’s Network Code of Ethics when I am out shooting on my own time away from work. So, I’d like to share the link for it here if anyone is interested in seeing it and hopefully also using it for their own personal reference:

I love the outdoors and wildlife. I bought the Zoom for just that reason...to get photos without stressing out the animal but it is difficult at times to maintain that distance when you think "how cool is that" Drones have opened up opportunities we would have never had but those come with responsibility. Even if we think we're one of the good guys we can cross the line if we're not careful. Thanks for the link.

Thank you for a very good article about respecting the law, and rights of others. Today it seems like every
body has a me first approach everything.
