This was the first video filmed from the first day and road trip of our recent Sutherland Holiday. It was a chance to finish off the last remaining stretch of the NC500 — we have done the rest piecemeal previously, apart from Durness to Ledmore — and to capture a few well-known and not-so-well-known locations with the drones.
We flew this section of the NC500 on the Sunday - the day after driving up from Manchester - which was a no-flying day for the RAF, so we were able to fly within EGR610 Low Flying Operational Area without issue - check out the RAF Low Fly timetable - Military low flying: RAF operational low flying training timetable - before flying, and if in doubt ring the RAF Low Flying hotline - 01489443100
4 flights were made this day, with Kylesku Bridge being the first, and the Inchnadamph Bone Caves being the last flight of the day - after which we faced a long walk back to the car in torrential rain - thank goodness for decent boots, decent waterproofs and a quality rucksack.
The bridge itself is an imposing concrete edifice, but the scenery is what makes the location amazing, the rapid tidal flow beneath the bridge, and the contrast between the brutal concrete and the mist-softened mountains is something quite amazing to see.
