I flew straight up in my backyard which I have done countless times. I did a hyper lapse and everything was fine. Then my screen said "Switched to backup IMU" or something like that. I immediately started to bring it down and got another message that I didn't quite catch since I was looking up. Something about redundancy I believe. I landed it, which was a rather hard landing since it didn't slow down as usual but everything is fine. I wasn't prompted to calibrate anything and everything looked fine. I turned it off and back on and had no warnings. UAV forecast said everything was good to go. I'm kinda worried to fly it now. It's never been crashed or anything. M2P.

I'll include the flight log just in case someone can see anything.

Here's what teh flight data looks like: DJI Flight Log Viewer - PhantomHelp.com
At 11:42.3 you received the message: Switched to Backup IMU
I haven't seen that before so can't comment much but there's nothing out of order about the flight before or following the message.
I landed it, which was a rather hard landing since it didn't slow down as usual but everything is fine.
The reason for the hard landing was that you pulled the throttle back to the limit for the last second of the landing.
VPS sensors were active for the launch but not active or could not recognise the ground later in the flight.
UAV forecast said everything was good to go.
The only thing that UAV forecast can advise you about that might affect flying conditions is wind.

The hard landing was still weird. I’ve landed in the same spot every time and it always slows itself down. This time it didn’t.

The only way it can slow itself down is by sensing the proximity of the ground.
Your VPS was not working so there was no way to sense how close the ground was.

Yea I understand I’m just saying it’s weird that the VPS wasn’t working either when it always has before in the same conditions. Should I just chalk this up to a glitch in the Matrix and keep flying?

There are several possibilities.
Did you disable it? If you fly now is it enabled?
Was the landing spot badly lit?

No I didn’t disable it. I’m watching the kids but I’ll try again in a bit. The spot wasn’t that badly lit. I’ve landed in that spot in complete darkness and the landing light always comes on and then it slows itself down.

Looking at the detailed flight data, it shows the VPS was enabled right through the flight but it only shows any VPS height readings for the first 15 seconds of teh flight and none at all when you came back into VPS range at the end of the flight.
