New Firmware

don't you feel it's a bit weird about this FW "update" ?

On the previous one, the vertical cropped mode was already there.
The "Allow change cameras while recording" is a dark Joke, when you switch, it stops, change, starts, the recording, so...well... mmeeeh yeah OK, you scripted 3 actions but I don't call this a possibility to swap lenses.
Really cool for the RC2 Dynamic Point upgrade ( I bought the RC Pro 2 for this function , but it's a good thing the RC2 has this )

DHP on the RC2 is a game changer for active track when my RC Pro 2 is too big to cart around; need to try it soon.

About changing lens during recording video was always a pain; from what @Zours is saying, it appears not much has actually changed other than just automate the change procedure, there is no instant change over of lens during a recording.

I updated from 01.00.0200 to 01.00.0030 this morning and found no issues or problems during a 30-minute flight. Mavic 4 Pro and RC 2 controller.

The revision notes for 01.00.0030 say that DHP was added for the RC 2 controller, but it was already there in 01.00.0200. I made several flights during the last few days using it, prior to the upgrade.

I appreciate that automated change of cameras (not lenses) while recording video. It's quicker and simpler than manually stopping one camera, switching to another camera, and starting that camera. I do miss the explore function on the Mavic 3 Pro.

So far, the Mavic 4 Pro roll-out seems to be very smooth and without drama.

We love drama! Gives us something to moan and complain about. 😀

Anyone having problem with the Gimbal stabilization after the update.

Haven't tried it flying yet, but holding the drone and moving around the gimbal jumps slightly(noticeable in video) while making a click sound. Can even feel the jump while holding it.

It's not a mechanical problem/somethign stuck in the gimbal. When sitting on the table all axis and rotation work normally and smooth.

I noticed that myself. But only when carrying the drone in my hand around while on, no gimbal issues when flying though. whatever this is, it was not doing it with previous firmware. Anyone else noticed this?

Glad to hear it's not happening when flying. I have to try it tomorrow.

Strange that the image stabilization behaves different now between on the ground and in the air.
It's only happening when moving the drone around.
If it's just moved in place along the pitch jaw roll axis it's not happening.

Mavic 4 Pro already has the same Explore Mode as the Mavic 3 Pro, which is now a hybrid digital zoom from 1x to 24x across all three cameras while shooting continuous video.

The aircraft that never received the Explore Mode is the Air 3S, where it would be very useful to Explore from 1x to 9x across both cameras in video. Oh, well.

My poor Air 3S (joking) but I still love that drone! :)

I noticed and applied a Mavic 4 Pro update today v01.00.0300.
The update — aircraft firmware v01.00.0300, along with new versions for both RC controllers and the DJI Fly app — introduces several features aimed squarely at pilots who value flexibility and cinematic control.

Among the biggest changes is the ability to switch between focal lengths during video recording, both in Normal and Slow Motion modes. This means creators can seamlessly shift perspectives mid-flight without stopping to adjust settings, a clear win for dynamic storytelling. The update also brings dynamic Home Point support when paired with the DJI RC 2 remote controller, which allows the drone to update its “return-to-home” location as the pilot moves — especially useful during long tracking shots or mobile filming setups.

Another major upgrade arrives for vertical shooters. The firmware adds lossless and cropped vertical video recording options in Portrait mode. That means TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts creators can now capture cleaner, platform-ready content without the compromises of reframing footage later. DJI has also thrown in the usual “fixed some known issues,” though details remain vague.

One note for pilots: after installing the update, camera settings reset to default, so you’ll want to revisit your exposure, color, and resolution preferences before taking off again.

Thanks for the detailed write-up! On another note, have you, by any chance, noticed those gimbal "jumps" and clicking when drone is on and you carry it around?

That's by design, far as I'm aware, the drone is not programmed to disable cameras/gimbal etc. with rotors off. Hope DJI is paying attention to this thread; it would be nice to have a menu option/setting to disable camera/gimbal with the rotor off. Being aware, I usually try and switch the drone off on the ground/landing pad before handling/lifting it. All that being said, the camera/gimbal being on, with the rotors off, permit the drone to be used as a static camera with its zoom etc, although expert photographers and professionals here may challenge my suggestion.

I am aware of gimbal being active when drone is ON but rotors OFF, in fact I even used it sometimes as a handheld camera for some shots while not flying, but these gimbal jumps (nothing crazy) an clicking is definitely new. Wasn't there in previous FW version for sure.

Okay, I did some more flying with this new .0300 drone firmware and noticed more issues. Apart from that gimbal jerking when moving drone around (with drone on, rotors off) I tested out this "follow-me" mode an while drone did its best to avoid any obstacles, it was very jerky doing so. I don't recall doing this with previous .0200 firmware. Testing done in same environment, same conditions (plenty of daylight, no wind). Also, DJI stating that they introduced this DHP feature with this new release, I had it present and working fine on previous version. Anyone else experiences same? I am about to downgrade my drone FW back to .0200 and see if it solves that follow-me jerking.

DHP is working fine for me with 01.00.0030. I've not seen the other problems you mention, but I'll check next time I fly.

You might have a look at the braking setting. With more aggressive braking, the drone makes more abrupt "jerky" stops. Also, there's a setting for obstacle avoidance that controls how the drone maneuvers when obstacles are detected that can cause more abrupt movements.

@iceman77, I just updated the fly app on the RC 2 controller to version 1.18.2. I tried moving the drone to check for the gimbal clicking behavior you described. There was something odd for only the roll axis. Nothing odd for the pitch or yaw axes. When the drone is rolled, the gimbal rolls in the opposite direction to keep the camera position stable, until approximately 80 degrees of roll. Then the gimbal rotates back and forth (30 degrees or so) quickly and then slowly moves to a stable position. Is this what you observed, or did you see something when the drone was pitched or yawed?

The gimbal behaved fine during the flight. I don't see a problem, just an oddity when the drone is rolled with the motors off. If an 80+ degree roll occurs during flight, there are other far more serious issues.

As for DHP not being available, I noticed that it took longer than normal for the controller to acquire a GPS fix. During that time, the controller location icon was not visible on the screen and DHP was not available. After the controller had a fix, DHP behaved normally.

When I tried to engage DHP, the controller displayed this message: "Enable location services and app permissions for your mobile device to ensure your location can be determined accurately." I think the text originated for the NC controllers used with phones. For the RC 2 controller, I think it just means that there's no controller GPS fix - be sure the controller is not in airplane mode and wait for a fix.

I'll tinker with the follow mode performance later and let you know what I find.
