Installed it and checked it out on the ground. So far all looks OK. Will take it up carefully in a little.

All looks good. I flew twice, the first time just checking stability and responsiveness including precision landing. The landing was perfect just like the MP. So precision landing is back. To test, make sure you go at least 100' or so away from the HP otherwise, it will just land wherever it is. If it does go into a "go home" mode, then it will precision land. Flight was very stable - no issues.

Had some connection issues with the longer flight (using the RE goggles) and solved it by fixing to 2.4 GHz and fixed channel/narrow bandwidth. When set that way, the goggles seem to work fine up to past 2 miles for sure. However, recently I have been getting sudden obstacle warning problems (forward obstacles) stalling flight even though I am more than 100' above ground with nothing in sight in all directions and NO SUN either!. This time, I persisted by letting go and then push forward again. It moved maybe 50 feet and stalled with complaint. I repeated that 2 more times and then it stopped and worked fine. After looking at the log it complained first by attitude to large followed by obstacle avoided (which there was none) three times in a row over a distance of about 200 yards in wide open field over 100' above ground and VERY LITTLE wind (between 2-4 MPH). I have seen this behavior occur at least once during the past 5 or so flights. I have NEVER seen it over more than 50 flights before. It also has nothing to do with this latest firmware upgrade since it happen before.

This is Good

Since the update I noticed that, while the max file size on the sd card stayed the same (approx. 3.671 gigs), the length of the videos (H.265 Normal) went from 4 min 50 secs to 5 min 01 secs.

Interesting! I noticed a subtle nitrate change on DlogM from somewhere around 100+ to just below 100. I have to check a number of older recordings to see if this is real.

DJI often “played” with the encoder parameters without any mention in the release notes. That was true back in the P3P days as well as MP days.

I had the same thing happen to my MP when trying to bring it home. It was a bright sunny day. I turned it around and flew it
backwards and it came right home.Had to be the sun playing around with the sensors.

Roamer: Many have experienced this including myself and the best guess is, the sunlight. Was it a very sunny day when this happened?

No it was not (cloudy), moreover I was heading north away from brightness.

We’re gonna have a good time R&D with this new upgrade. I enjoy all the brothers input. Be safe :)Thumbswayup:)

Thanks for the info and I’ll update asap. Sure would be nice if DJI would notify us when there’s a firmware update available instead of finding out when I am out there ready to fly!

I went through a vision sensor re-calibration. Starting off with the front, it seemed that the factory calibration was off. Did it twice trying to be as steady as possible with the AC position/distance. I will check it out in the field later today. Hope this solves the problem .

When I first started the new app it said I needed to do VPS re-calibration, then it informed me of the new firmware. I updated the firmware and then did the VPS calibration. I assume the VPS calibration is part of the Precision Landing.

Yes, please let us know how things go, as this has been happening to me a lot lately, and only while using the goggles re!! Never without. I’m eagerly waiting to see if that helps!! Thanks

This was the third time I had to re-calibrate the VPS, but I have over 1500 miles on it. This time it failed the calibration twice (never happened before), but the third one took. I flew six times yesterday after the re-calibration and everything worked fine (including Precision Landing). Two flights with DJI GO4 and four waypoint missions in Litchi.

Here are two file information screens: The one on the left is for a file recorded PRIOR to the update and the one on the right is AFTER the update. There are a few interesting differences aside from the bitrate (old is 104Mb/s and the new is 99.9Mb/s). Note the reference to frame rate. The old one has a value for "original frame rate" (which happens to be lower than selected frame rate - no idea why) and the new one does not have that. This 23 vs 23.976 may relate to the "Bits-(Pixel*Frame)" value of 0.524 (old) versus 0.502 (new).

Maybe some mpg specialist here can shed some light on this. I would be guessing as to what it means.

Has anyone tried the task library yet?
I flew 3 hyperlaspe waypoints flights and after each flight I clicked on save and a message came up that said task not saved, also no screen came up to allow me to change the flight time.

Task library not working on s8. The button is blue but unclickable unlike the hide button near by which works.

I ended up doing a VPS calibration last night after I updated all the new firmware for the zoom, and a quick test flight this morning. I flew just under a mile out at about a170ft altitude without the goggles re flawlessly, no issues. Then I did one with the goggles at about the same altitude but only out to about 3000ft with out any attitude , obstacles avoided warnings. It was also very sunny and bright out. I did not do any further testing as the wind was quite high and was struggling on the return home. Up until now, I would get the attitude warning , obstacle avoided warning every time I would use the goggles. Hopefully the VPS calibration was the fix
