Hi All. I am a new entry into drones. Never had or operated 1 before.
I have purchased a Mavis Air 2 based on my research and reviews undertaken which may be forgiving to a new flyer.
I am situated in the Jervis Bay area of NSW.
I would greatly appreciate any advise on clubs for training and usage of the Air 2 around this area.
I have researched all the CASA information but found so many restrictions around this area for operation.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I guess we all have to start somewhere?

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :) Enjoy the forum!Thumbswayup

Hi JoeK. Welcome to the forums. If I were you, I'd post another message with something like "Australia Regs" as the subject. That will likely draw the attention of some of our Aussie members and maybe some specific advice regarding the restrictions you'll need to know and which ones don't apply to you.
In the MavicPilots forum, I've seen a lot of support for responsible flight - knowing and following the laws and regs in your area, avoiding bad press and angry neighbors - because it helps all of us look like the law-abiding citizens we try to be.
You'll be encouraged to be conservative until you gain more skill flying, then gradually take on more challenges. Get to know your drone's manual backwards and forwards - know your drone.
In all of these things, we support you and there are many experienced pilots who can help with all manner of questions about drones and drone flying.
Happy flying to you

and stay safe.. Thumbswayup

Welcome to the forum. You will find plenty of support and guidance. We look forward to seeing the view of your world.

Thanks for the detailed information and suggestions. It is much appreciated.
I will follow your suggestions for submitting a new post "Australia Regs" as subject matter.
It's all confusing at this moment, but i am looking forwarded to getting all things right and some experience from the forum before I possibly make a mess of it.
I'm looking forward to the new experience and hoping to utilise the drone for some holiday photos in the future.

Welcome to the forum from the deserts of Arizona! Enjoy.

Thank you all for your replies and welcome.
It's nice to know i'm not left out there hanging thinking that no-one will respond being a new member. Looks like a great group of members in this forum.

Welcome to you from the wide-open spaces of Texas!

Always wanted to visit Australia, but haven't made it yet. Guess I'll have to see NSW thru the lens of your MA2.

Being a Yank, I can't answer your questions about CASA regs. However, we have lots of fellow Aussies (many from NSW) and others of us from around the world are here to help you gain skill as a pilot and photographer. I do know that there are several RC clubs in Australia, including some in NSW. Do a google search, and you'll find them. To get insurance, you'll have to be a member of one of the clubs. They can certainly help you find your way thru the labyrinth of CASA rules.

Glad to have you with us!
