Got my Mavic at Oshkosh. This is my second drone. Still after "consertivally" messing around I decided to do waypoints. Well I sure got my coming-ups. Discovered some "undocumented" features of waypoints crashed and then discovered how easy it was to find the Mavic.
Waypoint issue was my mistake of not realizing that the Mavic will ascend to a waypoint gradually (duh!). I programed a waypoint over a wooded area, back in a ways. I the started the Mavic on its way from the ground outside the wooded area and sure enough the Mavic dutyfully headed to the waypoint. I lost sight (man it's hard to see a black object in a dark background) and suddenly I got warnings of obstructions. The Mavic climbed on a slope to the way point line of sight into the trees. Instead of stopping all, my emergency plan was to climb straight up. Usually climbing out works but not when a tree is overhead.
So the Mavic goes down into the forest. Now how do I find it? Afer some pushing through the brush, I discovered the Mavic was sending me the GPS coords where it was. I enabled the GPS Android app and it got me right to the Mavic.
Waiting the DJI repaired done to get back.
