Welcome to our forum, from the friendly skies of North Texas!

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual (link below), and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under less than ideal conditions. We have over 100,000 members from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby! Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Glad you've joined us!

Wow what an active forum! Thanks guys! Ya I almost lost it in the wind already. At the beach on the Oregon coast. was just mild wind where i was sitting but 1000 feet away on the beach I got the warning that it was unable to return to home due to high winds. luckily I pressed the return to home button twice and it was able to fly back. Was just being a newbie pilot. I didnt check the forecast at all.. I have UAV forecast now and starting to get a hang of what I need to check before flying. The mini has been great to learn on. Im actually really interested in a pro model but waiting till the show the mavic pro 3 to decide what to buy. This mini has been the perfect for learning the ropes. Still scared im going to lose my $400 toy but not as scared as if I was flying around a $1500 pro. :D

Just purchased a Mini a few days ago. just learning the ropes but having a blast learning to fly.
Welcome to Mavic Pilots from Dayton Ohio! Enjoy your new Mavic Mini, Fly safe and have fun!
