New pilot in the dji world but i have flown hubsan x4 stuff. I cant wait to get this thing in the air!

Any suggestions far as firmware when getting this thing ready? I've already seen something about loss of connection with remote. I'm new with these products so bear with me as I go into this journey. Btw I have a mavic air

Likely your drone is current if you did the updates recommended when you were connected to your computer during activation.

I like to run the current firmware. If you'd like to do the same, you can update the firmware from DJI GO or the DJI Assistant 2 application (download it here).
