Howdy! I was just referred to this group from Pilot Institute and I am certainly happy to find this forum. I got my first drone this past Christmas and was hooked after the first flight. I passed my part 107 on the 6th of this month. I'll try and read the FAQs and previous threads before I waste your time with superfluous questions but there are times I just don't get it.
Thanks loads!
Dan

Welcome to our Forum, from the friendly skies of Texas!

Don't worry about "wasting" our time. If you have a question, do a search first. If you don't find a satisfactory answer, just ask. There are over 100,000 of us world wide (including many, many in Florida, who will be happy to help.

Lots of neat stuff to shoot all over FL!

Glad you've joined us!

Thank you all! I was not expecting such a kind reception from so many. Sweet!

@SW_Drone_Guy , I was flying a Mavic Air, but it's in for an oil change and tire pressure. ...No. that's a lie. I crashed it. Two days before the exam. It's in the shop in my home state of Texas. I got an email today advising me they are accessing it and the next step is an invoice. Their website says the next step should be a quote, but I know they are under a big covid strain and all their emails say so too.

I love that little airplane, though! It's a marvel of technology, and don't you konw that **** Tracy is rolling over in his grave every night because that wristwatch of his was nothing! I am still a very new pilot and the depth of the Mavic system is daunting - though I am confident I will catch on well. Especially after a couple of more crashes.

I took a several hundred pictures and got a couple that I am proud of. With the camera's abilities and the 3rd party software you don't have to be a great photographer, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

I am anxious to try out FPV, as another suggested recently, and I said that I'd like to become a better visually unaided pilot before I get too much into FPV. Perhaps what I said is true. But it might be dumb too.

I'm anxious to get to know the forum as I expect that the wealth of knowledge and experience will be invaluable.

Thank you all again and happy sky trails!

Dan

Thank you all again and happy sky trails! Dan

Watching freestyle FPV on YouTube is enthralling but these DJI drones don't like backflips too much. ;) FPV isn't an option on my Mini but I'd like to try it, I'm sure I'd like it.
Speaking of photos, I find myself taking so much video that I take very few photos - which I regret later. I just forget when I'm up there; I start recording video and get absorbed in the flying, forgetting to take photos. New resolution: take more photos.
Hope you get back in the air soon. Happy flying
