I brand new to flying a drone and I have a few general questions. I’m sure they are simply questions for you experience pilots but there’s no dumb questions since I’m a novice at drone flying.

I recently bought a Mavic 2 Pro with Smart Controller and there’s a slot for a micro sd card on the aircraft and the Smart Controller. Do I put my 128 GB card in the controller or aircraft?

What’s a safe / most common altitude to fly?

What’s the most common selection to fly in? T or P or S? I know S is for sport and I know that I won’t be needing to use this setting for a while.
When do you fly in T? Tripod
What does P stand for?

Thanks in advance for helping me learn this exiting sport.

Put your mem card in the drone. Thats where the camera will send the pics

Altitude really depends on whats around and what you want to see. Stay above all obstacles and you cant hit them, but stay under 400ft as this is generally the max legal limit

Stay in P (position) mode but change to T if you want to move slowly for smoother control

I also highly reconmend downloading and reading the full manual so you are aware of the different features and how they work

Good luck

Welcome.

Some advice. For first bunch of flights, put drone in Beginner mode. This will limit altitude and distance drone can fly. Find a wide open area (football field) with no trees or buildings nearby on a low wind day. Pick a quiet time of day and go fly 2 or 3 batteries getting used to control.

Most usually would be P for mode. However you may want to use Tripod or Cinematic as well, which will slow down the craft and response to your inputs.

Read about RTH settings and make sure you understand how they work.

Don't push it - flying near obstacles, during bad weather, night, etc until you have hours on the drone and feel comfortable.

In the aircraft if you want to save photos/video to it.

Stay above any nearby obstacles and low enough so you can see the aircraft with your eyes (required by law in the US).
