Hi, All. 54 year old in Birmingham, Alabama here; aviation enthusiast with a little RC planes in my background. I bought a Mavic Air for my 17 year old son for Christmas this year (fly as hobby). He loves photography, and I thought this would be a great way to expand his passion for it.
While we fully intend to fly safely and adhere to the rules, I honestly feel a little overwhelmed with the idea of him contacting one or more of the local airports that would be within the 5 mile radius.
I searched for local drone clubs but didn’t really find any. I downloaded the B4UFLY app and found an airport phone number directory. Is there anyone in the area we might ‘shadow’ a time or two to see how it should be done?
I’d love to see if we could fly from Oak Mountain State Park, and get a feel for other scenic areas to fly from and get good practice.
Thanks in Advance.
Ken
