Bought my Mavic Mini in July after watching someone fly one at the park. Was instantly smitten and went home to read and view the tremendous TouTube vids about it. Needed something to keep some sanity after retiring during this pandemic and this fits the bill perfectly. Gets me outdoors and challenged.
The breadth and depth of this hobby clearly goes way beyond just piloting and taking photos and vids. Rules and regulations, Planning a flight, Composing shots to Post editing (of which I am a total neophyte) to name a few made me a firm believer that this was the exciting hobby I was looking for. Went ahead and bought an MA2 in August as it has had good reviews and more features. Couldnt wait. Just love it.
Could be a long lockdown winter and looking forward to picking some very knowledgable folks brains in the forum....Cheers..

Hello from the Hoosier Heartland Hok-i.

Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots

It turns into multiple hobbies ;) Finding some place new to fly, filming technique and video editing to name a few. I incorporate my drone into my other hobbies too. Motorcycle riding and fly fishing always has my drone at hand!

Welcome to the forum. You will find helpful advice and support here. We look forward to your participation and seeing your part of the world.

Welcome to our forum, from Texas!

You'll find that the Mini almost flies itself. This can lead to overconfidence. Try to be conservative at first, and expand your horizons gradually. The Mini, at only 249 grams, doesn't handle wind as well as the heavier drones do. On windy days--you get those in Ontario--it's best to fly the Mini so that you have a tail wind on the way back.

Read your manual, and practice using "Find My Drone". Chances are you'll crash and perhaps lose your drone. Don't wait 'til that happens to try to learn under stress in less than ideal conditions. We have several fellow Canadians among our membership, and over 120,000 more from around the world who will help you learn your new hobby. Ask for help when you need it. Share your work when you can!

Glad you've joined us!

Buy the insurance. EVERYONE crashes at some point. It's not "if", it's "when".
