Hi all. Glad to be a part of this forum. I just got my first drone a week ago and still learning it. I got a Mavic Air 2. I have a good phone, iPhone 13 Pro Max, but considering getting an iPad to fly it with instead for a larger screen and to also not tie up my phone. However, is this a recommended move? Which iPad? Also I have been searching this site for suggestions on editing footage and doing it also on the iPad. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you haven't done it yet, swing by the FAA and register.

Then take the TRUST test to have a copy with you when you fly.

Get your FAA TRUST Certificate of Completion to legally fly drones for recreational reasons in the United States.

I started with an iPad Mini 4 but I'm using a Tripltek tablet now.

The Mini 5 or 6 should work well. The Mini 4 will get CPU usage alerts due to the GoFly app being power hungry.

I use a Mini 5 but have trouble in direct sunlight so I have to use a sunshade. I would see how the iPhone is in the sunlight and decide if there’s a problem, everyone’s eyes are different.
