I'm glad that this forum was recommended to me. I've been busy searching and reading, but I want to make sure I'm not missing any thread for the 'You're new here, this is what you need to know'. Please reply with any links that I should read through and items not to be missed so that I can get up to speed.
Many thanks.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots .
I hope you will find our site helpful and look forward to any input , photo's/video's you might post .
Don't be shy and ask anything if you can't find it by searching . Thumbswayup

Hi and Welcome! Honestly, you could spend days reading all the tips and tricks on this site but you need to read in-depth to make sure the tip is valid. As with any site with anonymous postings, not all tips are valid or correct so you have to read further to find the flaw (or correction). I learned a lot by watching drone crash videos on YouTube. They show what not to do and what to avoid.

Welcome to the forum from the deserts of Arizona! Enjoy.

What drone did you get? Reading the full manual, not just the ultrashort one in the box, is my ecommendation, beyond flying in beginner mode in a wide open area until controls and RTH button are second nature.

I’ll provide a link to the full DJI manual once you post which drone you have.

Mostly, be safe, register with FAA, be familiar with the FAA regs, and enjoy!

YouTube is a great start watch and learn.

little steps. RTFM

All depends what your goals are going to be with your drone.

Onward and Upward.

My apologies for not including my drone. I have a Mavic Pro. Read the manual a few times, already registered with the FAA, have an open field for practice, just waiting for the wind to die down. Thanks!

Use Google Earth Pro to draw a map. Save to KML. Upload to your drone.

Welcome. First, you are in the right place to receive great information & support. I’m a first time drone owner (M2P) with about 1 month behind me. Second, go into YouTube and view a few beginner videos. Third, before you go fly write down & take with you 2-3 things you wish practice and learn well. I was amazed what there was to learn regarding all of the separate icons on the controller.

Have fun!

Welcome to our community ILikeIceCream . . . be warned; it can be addictive. Tons of knowledge here. I'm sure MavicHelp will drop a load on you.

Read twice, watch 3 times before you go execute. I tell all newbies (new to sUAS) to read all the posts on "I lost/crashed my drone" As a community we grieve with those fallen souls and broken families . . . it is tragic and it is a warning: learn what the aircraft can and cannot do.

There are real life characters here that will keep you laughing . . . and there are some of the most brilliant geniuses you will ever find (anywhere) in this solar system. At the top of the list is the search tool. Use it. Remember, ask tons of question, laugh, grieve with the fallen . . . and don't forget to spin up daily. Take photos of what you see (that's your perspective) and post to make us better. Have fun!

Totally agree that reading the lost and crashed posts is the best educational benefit here. The more you know the better.
