No mem card - can’t zoom?

Hey all, just found that I can’t zoom in in photo mode. I don’t have a mem card in - could this be the problem?

I don't have the mini 4 pro, but I have older DJI drones and the zoom only worked in video mode, not photo.

The memory card may not be the problem.

1-2X digital zoom should be available in photo mode, but only for 12 mp photos.

Have you reprogrammed the zoom dial for another function? Can you zoom using two fingers on the screen? With the slider that opens when you tap the zoom icon?

What controller are you using? With the smart controller, you need to hold the fn button to use the dial to zoom.

Boom! Got it……it was in 48mb mode!! Thanks all.
So, my next question is….what is better for zooming in for detail - a zoomed in photo using 12mb or a cropped 48mb photo??

The 48MP should be better, zoom would only be useful if you need to see something live

Yep, if your goal is HQ video, you should avoid using any zoomed imagery in your final edits - it's not optical zoom, so should be avoided as a rule, unless you specifically need to show something at extra detail in the video and couldn't physically get the craft closer.
