If you are buying a new drone then the warranty will only be honored if you purchase it from an authorized DJI reseller. If there are any mechanical defects with the drone, DJI will not honor the warranty if you buy it elsewhere.

Gotcha. I'm planning on buying the DJI Care Refresh anyway, so should I still look at authorized dealers?

I would. Care refresh isn't for defects...

EDIT: Unless you want to pay to have a defective unit fixed.

I would. I know some people say DJI covers things under warranty even when buying from other sellers (even though the DJI warranty states it won't be covered), but I don't like to take any chances when spending this kind of money.
