If you plan on buying a used DJI Drone and the Drone is still bound to the Original Owner, DJI will not assist to Un-Bind the drone from the original owner.

This is NEWS, but the complete Posting is here in the General Discussions Forum…

That has always been DJI's policy.

Until the recent changes, DJI had Re-set the binding on some DJI Drones. The Buyer had to provide documented proof from trustworthy sources (businesses on business letterhead, eBay, Pawn Shops, Donation Thrift Shops, Auction Houses, etc…) and if the Drone had not been reported lost or stolen, DJI Un-Bound various Drones for members on this Web Site as well as other Web Site…

I do not know what inspired the change, perhaps a spat of fraudulent "proofs"; who knows, but it's all a moot point now…

I have seen some internet postings from various Reddit users who claimed that some business, not associates with DJI, had Un-Bound some DJI Drones… In fact, I think there is a "Dark" Forum here that discusses various Hacks to get around the various limitations of the FLy App? I do not know if it is still active or has been discontinued…

There is a “dark” forum that looks at software modifications that might be useful though not so much with the Fly app as with the older Go4 app. In early versions DJI had a developers option which wasn’t properly protected and ways were found to use some of the options this presented. These were not hacks, in the sense that someone had broken the software, more options that were available but hidden. I don’t remember there being anything about binding or unbinding drones presented there. I’ll have to go and have a look as I still have (carefully preserved) access to it and my original and still working Mavic Pro.
