Ocean Wind Makes A Difference!

Flying my Mavic Pro this morning into the wind. Made some headway at 5mph. Turned around drone rocketed forward at near 32mph. Something to consider when flying. Oh yes, forgot to mention location as Cannon Beach, OR. Great flight this morning with gray overcast but awesome video anyway. A Mavic 2 Pro was lost in the surf yesterday.

Good point... whenever possible fly out against the wind and fly back with it.
Imagine what would have happened if you got a low battery warning 1000 ft out and with that headwind only had 800ft of flight left!

21 minutes odd, but worth watching in full, this ship they fly near to takes him nearly 4.5km from home point !!
From about 9 mins, he realises his mistake and begins to look to land on this large sandbar, but that goes underwater at high tide, so it's a race to hire a boat to find it (very large bar) and save it.

Relooking the speeds in mph (we are km/hr) yeah you are probably right.
I would have thought get out there faster in sports, would like to see any video footage.

Maybe there would have been less wind at lower altitude on the way back. That’s what I would have tried. At least the guy got his bird back.

If you thought 32 mph was fast, you've got obstacle avoidance on.
There's no need for OA when flying at sea and you'll get more speed which is much more useful.
Sport Mode burns battery wastefully. It's generally not something to use when you need range.
