I just remembered I have an old Android phone that still works with a good battery. It does not have a SIM card or memory card my question is does it need those to fly the mavic. As this might be easier to use rather than taking my phone out of the case all the time to insert to the RC. Thoughts?

if it has a gps chip then its ok i fly an older android s6 edge with no sim and airplane mode and its all fine does not crash either but it does get more interference problems than ios.

I think it has GPS because it use to get me from here to there, but is it in the Sim card? If it is ill have to get one.

Well I did try this old phone yesterday without a SIM card and a memory card and it worked perfectly just like my newer phone. I will. get a large memory card though to store video and pictures on
