My wife doesn’t understand why I spent money on part 107 when our neighbors making $300 a wedding With no cert. got to admit I feel a bit foolish...

I can understand why this would be frustrating, I'm studying to get my part 107 and hope to be went to primarily use it for wedding / real estate photography to make a little extra money. I was just trying to explain to someone a few days ago about the need to have the certification for real estate photography, I am also curious how many of the realtor's I see using drone shots in their listings are either using a licensed pilot or have a license themselves.

I'm just hopeful that when I get my 107 and try to advertise, that specifically mentioning being legally licensed for commercial work will put me ahead of the unlicensed people, by enabling clients to see that by being licensed I should be a better pilot and they won't have to worry.

It will also help you get liability insurance ( a personal hobbyists insurance policy won’t cover commercial work) and be a shoe-in for contract work if you decide to take on industry related jobs.

That's what I had forgotten, insurance, I knew there was another benefit I was not remembering.
